Polytheism. Like the Mesopotamians the Egyptians worshipped many gods (Polytheism). Gods and Goddesses. Osiris- The god of the underworld who is married to Isis Re- is the god of the Sun. He was the head god Hapi- ruled the Nile River Isis- she ruled over the dead with her husband. Mummies.

  1. Polytheism • Like the Mesopotamians the Egyptians worshipped many gods (Polytheism)

  2. Gods and Goddesses • Osiris- The god of the underworld who is married to Isis • Re- is the god of the Sun. He was the head god • Hapi- ruled the Nile River • Isis- she ruled over the dead with her husband

  3. Mummies • Egyptian pharaohs and their families were often made into mummies after their death. • Mummification helped to preserve their bodies for the afterlife. The Egyptians believed that they needed their body for the afterlife.

  4. Book of the Dead • The Egyptians had a belief in an afterlife. • They believed that if you led a good life and knew the spells from the Book of the Dead they could achieve the afterlife.
