A year later Amazon’s product was made available to the public for purchase, although there was not much focus on the device at launch events. The first Alexa-enabled product to feature a camera was the Echo. However, it does not have a screen. The first smart display, the Eco Show, will be launched two months later and the product will be refreshed within 15 months of launch. The Eco Look has never received an official product update and has not even been billed as a smart speaker. The company has made it clear that many of the things that are popular in eco smart speakers cannot be echoed. A dedicated device may be unnecessary and a mobile app-based solution will suffice. And, even the value of maintaining a particular app for a few thousand users is hard to justify.
