Á Íslandi. Þingvellir, Alþing-general assembly was established around 930 and continued there until 1798. All major events in the history of Iceland have taken place at Þingvellir. Today Þingvellir is a national park where the protected area shall allways be the property of the Icelandic nation.

  2. Þingvellir, Alþing-general assembly was established around 930 and continued there until 1798. All major events in the history of Iceland have taken place at Þingvellir. Today Þingvellir is a national park where the protected area shall allways be the property of the Icelandic nation. • Til þess að fá samþykki á heimsminjaskrá þarf staðurinn að vera einstakur í heiminum. • Staðir á heimsminjaskrá draga að aukinn fjölda ferðamanna. • Á heimsminjaskrá sameinuðu þjóðanna eru 800 staðir um allan heim.

  3. Þingvallakirkja Á Þingvöllum er kirkja, hún heitir Þingvallakirkja, einnig er þar kirkjugarður. • Þessa mynd gerði Helga Laufey Hafsteinsdóttir. Research has made it clear that Þingvellir is a natural wonder on a international scale, with the geologic history and the biosystem of Lake Þingvallavatn forming a unique entity.

  4. Þingvallabær In 2004 Þingvellir was inscribed upon the World Heritage List of theConvention conserning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. It is on the list for its cultural and historical significance, its unique natural environment and its remarkable geology. • Á þingvöllum er líka gamall bær, hann heitir Þingvallabær. Í gamla daga bjó fólk í honum, en nú er þar safn. Þessa mynd gerði Ásthildur Gyða Garðarsdóttir

  5. Drekkingarhylur • Drekkingarhylur dregur nafn sitt af því að í gamla daga var konum drekkt fyrir t.d. að verða óléttar án þess að vera giftar. Síðasta drekking var líklegast árið 1749. • Þessa mynd gerði Kristina Maxine Guðmundsdóttir

Lögberg • Við Lögberg var alþingi stofnað u.þ.b. árið 930, það er eitt elsta alþingi í heimi. • Þessa mynd gerði Hrafnhildur Arna Nielsen Þingvellir is one of the most frequently visited tourists sites in Iceland. Each year, thousands of visitors og there to become better acquainted with Iceland’s greatest historical site and jewel of nature.
