  2. Setting (time, place, atmosphere) • Thank You M’am takes place in the streets of America and Mrs, Jones’ house. • The time of day is 11:00pm. The atmosphere is dark, tense, strange, and warm.

  3. Main Characters • Roger • -poor, that’s why he tried to take Mrs Jones purse. • Mrs Jones: -generous because she gave Roger 10 dollars to get the new shoes he wanted. -forgiving because after he tried to steal her purse she left him in a room with it and trusted he wouldn't take it.

  4. Conflict • Person vs Society: He comes from a poor background. • Person vs Person: Roger trying to steal Mrs.Jones’s purse. • Person vs Self: When he regrets his decision to steal.

  5. Key Events • Roger was trying to steal Mrs. Jones’s purse. Mrs.Jones dragged Roger to her home and made him wash his face. • He had an opportunity to steal her purse but thanked her instead.

  6. Climax • When Roger has the opportunity to steal her purse and he doesn't.
