Symposium Evaluation • Goal: To determine technology issues that are facing teacher education institutions and what further support is needed • Survey • Questions linked to symposium objectives • Questions regarding overall symposium • Questions regarding specific sessions • Administered online with authentication • Qualitative Data • Videos of sessions • Posters • Panel discussions

  5. Technology Toolkit: Purpose • Creation of collaborative community • Creating vision for technology development • Sharing resources for technology and assessment • Sharing expertise for instrument development and data analysis

Development Phases: Strategy • Site Facilitators survey • Institutional changes as a result of catalyst grant • Assessment resources that can be shared • Challenges in the next five years • Lessons learned from catalyst grant • Components to be included in toolkit • How toolkit could help with assessing technology competencies • How information and resources would impact decisions regarding technology

  7. Toolkit development: Strategy Phase • Criteria for evaluating existing sites • Ease of Use/Organization • Is it clear how to navigate through the resource’s page? How accessible is the site? How long does it take to load? • Aesthetics • Is the interface uncluttered? Are graphics used wisely to enhance and supplement the text? How does the site appear in the browser? • Authoritative and reliable content • Is there a credible, contactable authority responsible for site content/maintenance? Is the information accurate? • Usefulness • Is it the site always available (no restrictions on time or location)? What are the search capabilities for siteinformation? Can visitors get the information they need within a reasonable number of links (3)?

  8. Criteria for evaluating existing sites • Rich and Unique • Is there enough information to make visiting the site worthwhile? Does the site contain original information or simply links? • Current • Is the date the source was last updated clearly shown? How often is it updated? Are dates of external link checks noted? • Availability of other information • Is their an internal search engine that indexes the whole site (full text)? Is there a search utility that indexes the Web or parts of it (subject specific indices)? • Collaborative • Does the resource enable access to “experts” in the field who share their knowledge through question and answer format? Are there archives of discussion groups?
