X-type transfer case oil change. January 2008. Parts to make drain/fill valve Note original plug. Fill/drain valve assembled note ball valve handle removed to allow room to screw it into the case. Draining original oil very dark and tar-like. Magnetic plug with sludge.

  4. Draining original oil very dark and tar-like.

  5. Magnetic plug with sludge

  6. Original oil drained.. Very dark, and very little oil at all

  7. Old oil in measuring cup not 600ml!!

  8. Drain valve in place ready to refill

  9. Hose in place ready to fill oil

  10. Mixing oil and engine flush

  11. Ready to pour and fill for first flush

  12. Oil filling into transfer case

  13. Case full, note oil level in hose

  14. Running car in gear on jack stands to flush transfer case–note speedo

  15. First drain vs first refill and flush both are very dark
