  3. Origin- East Canada. From providence called Quebec Location- North America, On the border of USA and surrounded by the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

  4. History One of the forms of social dances in French Canada is the quadrille. The quadrille is like the American square dance. Les Saluts is actually one part of a much longer dance called Le Saratoga. Le Saratoga is still performed today on Orleans Island near Quabec City.

  5. Formation When dancing you need a partner. Your partner will be on the man’s right side. A double circle is required. Inner circle of women holding hands and outer circle of men holding hands. In our PE class we may not have enough girls and boys so this formation may be changed.

  6. Steps Inner circle: Walk left for 8 counts, with feet together on 8. Walk right for 8 counts, with feet together on 8. Basket: duck down and step back on counts 1-4, walk right 4 counts, feet together on 8. Walk left for 8 counts, feet together on 8. Walk in for 4 counts, let go and join hand with people on the sides and walk back for 4 counts, with feet together on 8. (now in 1 large circle) Walk in for 3 counts, bow on 4 and hold to the music, then begin the dance again. Outer Circle: Walk right for 8 counts, with feet together on 8.
