Objectives of the Webinar • In preparation for the Fall 2013 Online MEAP, participants will know and understand: • the location of documentation and Help Desk information • the testing window and other important dates • the technology requirements • how to prepare the testing computers • how to support the test administration

MIST General Overview • Secure test delivery system • Two interfaces • Student • Flash-based client application • Installation required • Does not auto-update • Administrator • Accessed through browser • No installation required • Student Practice Site for MIST • https://mi.misttest.com/practice
MIST Technology Requirements Your experience will be best if you are able to provide at least 50kb/s per student during testing • Recommended: Students and teachers should be asked to limit bandwidth-intensive tasks such as streaming video from the internet or downloading large files. 1500 25 60
MIST Technology Requirements To verify that a testing computer is compatible • Download the MIST application to the computer’s desktop (where students can access it) • Windows: https://mi.misttest.com/mist.exe • Mac: https://mi.misttest.com/mist.zip • Login to the computer with student-level credentials • Double-click on the MIST icon on the computer’s desktop • If you see the login screen below, the testing computer is compatible
MIST Download and Installation • Open a browser and navigate to https://mi.misttest.com • Login with the following credentialsUsername: admin2013Password: admin2013 • Click on the Downloads link (on the left) • Click on the MIST download button that corresponds with your testing computers’ operating system • MIST can be downloaded once and then deployed across the network using any available network management tools • It can also be copied into the correct destination folder on each hard drive from a flash drive or other portable data storage device.
MIST System Check • Conduct this System Check at each unique testing location as well as on each unique hardware/software configuration among your testing computers • Login to the computer with student-level credentials • Double-click the MIST icon • Log into using the following credentialsUsername: admin2013Password: admin2013 • Click on a student name and click NEXT • Click on a test name and click NEXT • Click CONFIRMand then click START TEST • Click through the screens of the test to make sure you can answer the questions and navigate between questions
Online Test Administration • Online Test Administration Planning & Logistics • Use the Scheduling Template resource • Number of simultaneous testers should be determined by the Network Capacity Worksheet • Always ensure extra testing computers are available at each testing location in case of technical issues • Ensure time for the following activities • Testing computer setup and system checking • MIST Test Administrator Training/Practice • Staff training • Student practice • Test administration (Part 1 and Part 2) • Makeup testing (Part 1 and Part 2) • Remove MIST from testing computers
Online Test Administration • Disaster Avoidance • Maximize the bandwidth available to testers • Prioritize MIST.exe traffic to and from the MIST servers • Be available to address technical issues during testing • Disaster Planning • Keep the MEAP Call Center (Help Desk) number readily available • 877-560-8378, option 2 • A student may be moved to another computer by the Test Administrator using the Pause and Resume feature • Moving a student will not cause any answers to be lost
