FPL Vegetation Management • 6382 total miles of electric transmission lines in FPL system (1321 miles in Miami-Dade/Broward counties) • On site inspection twice per year • Monitor primarily for potential “grow in” species and for fire fuel • Melaleuca, Australian Pine, Sawgrass and Cattails are predominant species that are monitored

  4. Prioritization • Based on threat level • I.e. Voltage of circuit, type of threat, funding, etc.

  5. Methods • Rolling of Sawgrass • Herbicide application • Top and treat with herbicide • Prescribed burn • Mowing

  6. Tracking • Perform bi-annual patrols on circuits to evaluate effectiveness of treatment(s) • Investigate all relays to determine root cause and possible mitigation • Annual report of all work types performed
