  1. WWI Research Project

  2. WWI Research Project • This project will be THE big assignment for this Semester. • It is worth about the same amount as 3 test grades. • This is a Menu Project, which means you have many options to choose from so take some time to choose wisely. • You must have at least 1 partner for this Project.Choose wisely. • You will include a list of how the work of the project was divided between team members. You will only be graded on your own work. • There is also a procedure for expelling a group member if they refuse to complete their part of the project.

  3. Picking Partners • You MUST work with someone else. This is a BIG project. • Make sure you pick someone you can really work with and that you trust to do their part. • Make sure you can find time to work with this person. Check your schedules. Do you have common work time? If not, do you know how to use programs like Google Docs to collaborate online? Or… Pick a project that has separate parts you can easily put together. • Teams will divide up work evenly and report what each team member did. You will only be graded on your work. I can help you with this if you ask for my help. • There is a procedure you can use to expel someone from your group if they are not working, but it must be clearly followed or that person will remain in the group.

  4. Project Parts There will be 4 parts to this project: • Research Log- a specially designed form of Cornell Notes to help your track your notes and the sources your notes came from. • Essay with In Text Citations- Every assignment will have an Essay and every essay will include in text citations. • Product-Every project will have some thing that you make, create, produce or compose to help teach the class about your topic. • Presentation- Every project will include some kind of formal presentation to the class.

  5. Project Parts: Research Log • This is where you will take all your notes from all your sources (books, internet, lecture notes, video, encyclopedias, etc.) • You must have at least 3 sources by the end of your project. • You must have at least 1 book that is not your text book (encyclopedias are OK). • You may onlyuse the web pages provided by me. • You must use the Research Log Format (Modified Cornell Notes) • You will use this information to do In Text Citations, which are required.

  6. Project Parts: Essay • Every project has an Essay. • There are different types of essays that you can do. They vary in length but average two-three pages. Some are very creative (article critiquing a piece of art, I-Search paper) and some are very traditional (persuasive essay on whether or not the USA should join the war.) • You will do In Text Citations in your essay using the citation information in your Research Log- I will teach you how to do this.

  7. Project Parts: Product • Every Project has a Product that you will make and turn in. • Some options include: A children’s book, a CD of songs, a board game, a play or video, a set of paper dolls, a box of old letters, a diary, a sculpture, a collection of artifacts, a diorama, and a painting. • Your product will be presented in class as part of your formal presentation.

  8. Project Parts: Presentation • Every Project has a Presentation that you will give the class. • Presentations will be short and formal as you show off your product to the class. Some presentations will be performances, of a play or song. • Presentations will be done in Formal Clothing as part of this assignment. • Your presentation will be made in class the week the project is due.

  9. Choices, Choices, Choices… • You will need to answer these questions as you complete your project: • Who will I work with? • What topic will I investigate? • What kind of essay will I write? • What kind of product will I make?
