  2. Why is the Integrity of our Research Data so Important? • Departments and Dean’s offices use InfoEd-based reports to gather accurate information needed for proposal preparation.

  3. Why is the Integrity of our Research Data so Important? • Departments and Dean’s offices use InfoEd-based reports to gather accurate proposal and award summary information crucial for organizational decision making.

  4. Why is the Integrity of our Research Data so Important? • The Office for Research uses our data to report about the research at Northwestern University to the community at large. • Board of Trustees, other advisory bodies • Potential sponsors • Annual reports • Rankings: US News and World Report, Forbes, National Research Council, The Chronicle of Higher Education, etc.

  5. Why is the Integrity of our Research Data so Important? • Federal regulations require us to report research data. • Vendor Data • Subcontract Data • FFATA Reporting • Audit Data

  6. Why is the Integrity of our Research Data so Important? • Accurate Effort Reporting • In Current & Pending Support • In the Effort Reporting System (ERS)

  7. Why is the Integrity of our Research Data so Important? • New needs for data accuracy can arise at any time.Example: The new Northwestern Conflict of Interest Policy • InfoEd will drive our ability to document and track those individuals considered “Investigators”.

InfoEd Proposal Data • InfoEd PD has put the unit research administrator in the driver’s seat – YOU drive the proposal data now! • Proposal data is the starting point of much of the research data at NU.Examples: • The correct Associated Department will drive which department gets credit for the proposal and award. • The effort listed in the Proposal Routing Form is designed to be carried over to the award.
