  2. Please… • Open your notes from Friday (Majors, Minors, and Courses Notes) • At the very bottom, please input a table (2x7) • Think about this question: What do you know about the differences between a Private University and a Public University?

What’s the Difference? • Less expensive (funded by the government) • Get a discount for being “in-state” • Larger class sizes • You feel more anonymous • Larger selection of classes, majors, even extracurricular activities • Not religiously affiliated • May be easier to get into – but the curriculum is just as challenging • More locations available so you have more choices • More expensive (privately funded) • Financial Aid still available • Smaller class sizes • Better relationships with professors • Smaller selection of majors- may have more specialized programs and majors • May be religiously affiliated • Some people consider it to be more prestigious • May be harder to get into Public University Private University

So which one? • Private universities, although sometimes thought of as more prestigious and well-respected, are not automatically superior to public universities. • Overall, the most important factor of a successful education is how well-suited the school is to the individual student's needs and career interests. • Students should consider their ideal university's: • Programs • Course offerings • Atmosphere

Take 20 minutes to… • Finish your “About Me Prezi” that includes the following: • Your name in large text (the main title) • At least 5 frames or text boxes that gives information about yourself • At least 3 frames or text boxes that tells me about your chosen career, including some information from your research last week. • Play around with the features and include lots of zooming for your path to follow! • Share the Prezi with me when you finish mmattie@loyalsocklancers.org

Education Unit Prezi • Over the next week and a half, you and your partner will be putting together a presentation that describes all the information you are learning about college • To be used for underclassman to be educated on all the many aspects of College • Please log into Moodle and download the guidelines and rubric

  8. For the remainder of Class… • Finish the research about your college (from Friday) • Get with your partner to get started on your Education Unit Prezi • Start on Section 1
