WHO-INAHTA (24 June 2009) • INAHTA will collaborate with WHO to support health technology assessment initiatives in developing countries. • INAHTA will collaborate with WHO in the implementation of the WHA60.29, including information to the health technologies clearinghouse • To establish regularly an evidence and web-based health technologies database to serve as a clearinghouse which will provide guidance on appropriate medical devices according to levels of care, setting, environment, and intended health intervention, tailored to the specific needs of country or region. • INAHTA board members may be invited to participate in health technology meetings organized by WHO

Benefits of improved coordination • To have a focal point to relate to all members of INAHTA • To have a link to INAHTA website on the WHO webpage in order for Member States to access information. • INAHTA to source experts to do capacity building per unit, regions or countries, as required by WHO. • To use INAHTA information/ advice to help developing countries develop HTA units.

  5. Proposed way forward for medical devices • Have one teleconference/ email meeting per month to know requirements of information, activities or training needs. • Participate to WHO meetings, particularly with GMTA, nomenclature, patient safety, list of medical devices, drugs, etc. as required by WHO. • Support in the development of the next documents. • Encourage clinical engineers, regulators and HTA agencies to talk and work together in every country and globally !!!! • Encourage safe, effective, affordable health technologies used in countries
