  1. Spa Production Experience By Alex newman and Matt Lochrie alochman production

OverView • In the first part of the day we want to introduce the students to the different phases of TV/ Film production process, by showing them the different aspects with demonstrations such as; • Make Up • Writing • Camera Work • Set design • Acting • Whilst in the second part of the day there will be more structure and a specific goal for the students to achieve which allows them to gain a greater knowledge into an area of their interest. • We will also have a behind the scenes photographer throughout the day • We shall do this by:

  3. Make UP –Make up room • 3-4 of the CMP class • Demonstrations on students of scars etc, done by CMP students • Examples of the different affects make up can have on a person • Pictures around the room, Black Swan, Joker, Zombies

Introduction Talk • Give a brief overview of the day • Then show a clip of what has been filmed at the studio before • Tell them the idea for the first half of the day discuss what is available to look at encouraging them to try everything at least once, • Think about what they might be more interested in finding more about in the latter half of the day.

  5. Camera/ Lighting- Main Studio • 3-4 CMP Students • 2 Camera’s setup, one on a tripod and one on a Dolly • Allow students to get to grips with Camera work and lighting board, through hands on work and demonstrations • Discuss how the intensity of a scene can be determined through the type of shot used • How different set ups allow for different shots

  6. Acting-Main Studio • 2 Drama Students, 2 CMP Students • Green Screen for students to pick different backgrounds , so that they can interact with each other and have fun • Discussions on acting and different techniques • Get students involved by having them act with the drama students

  7. Editing-Scene Room • 3-4 CMP Students • Pre-recorded Video • CMP students show editing techniques onto the video • With some scale of interactivity

  8. Set Design/Props- Back Room • 3-4 CMP Students • 4-5 Overalls for students • Large blank wall • Demonstration of techniques which can be used • Allow them to try out these techniques and paint what they like (within reason) • Importance of sets within a show

Story Board- Main Studio • 3-4 CMP Students • Pre Made Story Board Templates set up • Discussion of what a story board is and what is included on it • Students make their own, following a given criteria • Discuss how writing a script • This will be used later on in the • latter half of the day

  10. All these activities help to break the ice and allows students to get familiar with the equipment and what they may want to do in the second half of the day

  11. Lunch- Green Room

Talk • After lunch have a discussion of the next part and tell them that we have chosen a story board to produce/make. • All of the students will be working on one specific process • Then have one lead CMP Student from each process will discuss what will be doing. • This will: • Refine their interest • See what they are interested in working with in the future

Production • Make up- Students will do the make up for actors/ Can also help with Set Design • Set Design- Design and create the sets that will be used • Writers/Director- Create script from storyboard, and collaborate with other processes making sure everyone knows their roles • Camera men/Lighting/ Green Screen: setting camera, lights and green screen (if needed), into correct positions and using this equipment under supervision • Editors: liaising with writers and directors to get an idea of what cameras they will want at specific moments, getting to edit as they go

  14. Round UP Talk • Show them what they have created • Round up the day • Everything will be available from the Facebook Page (Pictures, Videos)

  15. What they Get out of it • Gives practical experience in the media • shows what the University can offer • Helps to develop their talents and skills
