  2. PROCEDURES • Graded paper Folders • Sunday Enews • Assignment notebooks

  3. GRADED PAPER FOLDERS • Go home on Wednesdays • Returned on Friday of the same week • All tests and quizzes should be signed by a parent or guardian • Homework doesn’t need to be returned

  4. Sunday ENews • Main way of communication between parent and school • Important information (forms) • Some notices go home in the graded paper folder • Check teacher websites for details about the current week and homework

  5. ASSIGNMENT NOTEBOOKS • Please check nightly (Don’t have to be signed) • Important organizational and recordkeeping tool

  6. CONFERENCES • Held in November and March • November conferences with homeroom teacher • March conferences are optional (any teacher) • Signup for November online – Watch the ENews

  7. COMMUNICATION • Can be reached by email, phone, or written note • We will respond within 48 hours • Progress reports are sent out at midtrimester • Coordination of test dates

  8. BEHAVIOR PROCEDURES • PINK SLIP • PROCESSING • LUNCH DETENTION • AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION

  9. SPELLING • All homework is due on Friday • Pretest must be corrected in red • Homework should be completed in the spelling spiral • Students are tested on selected vocabulary words each week • Vocabulary definitions should be written into the spelling spiral (Use spelling glossary)

  10. SCIENCE • Can write in the book!! • Wide variety of topics covered (chemistry, astronomy, biology) • Projects • Tests every two-three weeks • Review sessions the day before the test (recess?)

  11. SOCIAL STUDIES • Geography Maps,Globes, Landforms • Explorers Beginning with the Silk Road • Coming to America • The Colonies • Founding of the United States • Revolutionary War • Declaration of Independence • Momentous Moments in History

  12. READING • Two notebooks – one for notes, one as journal • Poetry Unit • Elements of Literature/Genres • Literature Circles / Book Clubs • Increase comprehension: questioning, self monitoring, sticky notes, analyzing text, citing text • Book talks

  13. RELIGION • Liturgical seasons • The Rosary • The Gospel of St. Mark • Sacraments • Family Life • Altar server opportunities

  14. LANGUAGE ARTS • Parts of Speech • Expository, Persuasive, Descriptive, and Narrative Writing • Daily Work – Bell ringer
