  1. Understanding the Basics of ERP Implementation Methodology

  2. The best way to a smooth-running a business is to have an ERP implementation methodology that fits the business requirements in line with the organization objectives. The ERP implementation methodology is the method of managing the business from planning purchasing sales inventory human resources finance and marketing. This is the process wherein the essential software is integrated into both the internal and external resources of an organization.

There are several ERP implementation methodologies depending on different vendors, however, some common stages include but not limited to analyzing the organization processes and the requirement which need to be met, figuring out how to set up the system to address all requirements, executing the settings in the model, model set up and developing that is needed, testing the settings and training the users who will work with the system and operating with the ERP system and even the maintenance and support of the system.

  4. The requirement analysis defines the business objectives and requirements for each department. Logistics Department, for instance, would have the objective of optimizing the order fulfillment. The critical business processes may include the Inventory Management, Order Fulfillment, Warehouse Management and Sales Order Processing. Requirements Workshop includes users and managers identification of the current challenges and desired outcomes.

  5. The Solution Design defines how the business requirements will be implemented. The current process, future process, existing functions in software, customization, integration and fit-gap analysis are some of the common approaches utilize to meet the business requirements. The Development and Configuration build and tests the system components which are defined and approved in the solution design specifications. There are three steps under this process namely the system configuration checklist, plan data migration, and the data mapping and migration.

  6. The Deployment / Training end user training, user acceptance testing and the actual interaction with the new production environment. This method comprises of the legacy system preparation, application preparation, infrastructure preparation, final data migration, data migration reconciliation, application initialization and actual utilization of the ERP system. The proper identification of user groups whether power users, key users or end users, training methods whether classroom, web-based and train the trainer and the documentation of user guides, wikis and knowledgebase are the important part of this phase.

  7. The final phase which is the operations closed the project; provide support and transition ownership of the solution and information. In this phase, evaluation is done regarding the percentage of companies training employees on ERP after implementation, ongoing customer support provided by the ERP seller and the customer portal which include the documentation, searchable knowledge base, product roadmaps and training.
