  2. Author list • Lai Wing Yan, Priscilla (Information collection, technical support) • Li Kit Shan, Dorothy (Information collection, visual design) • Sung Pui Yee, Susana (Information collection, visual design) • Tang Kit Kan, Candy (Information collection, animation effects) • Tang Lai Lin, Wendy (Information collection, animation effects)

  3. In this lecture, with the help of workbooks and worksheets, our P.3 students will be able to... • distinguish between simple present tense and simple past tense. • form the past tense by adding ‘ed’ to the verbs. • know how to pronounce the past tense of some regular verbs. • describe past events using regular verbs. • recognise the time adverbials such as yesterday, ago, last week, today and so on.

  4. Our rationale in designing this presentation: • We use a calendar to show the present and the past since it is a text form that students are familiar with. • We deliberately omit irregular verbs and verbs that require the ‘y-ied’ inflection because it is only the first introducation to the use of past tense. • We design a competition to motivate the students and invite active participation.

  5. Procedures in using this presentation: • Teacher presents slides (6-15) to revise the use of present tense. Teacher may allow students to answer them orally first before showing the answers. • Teacher presents the calendar to introuduce the concept of ‘the past’. Students maybe invited to click on any pictures that they want to discuss. • Teahcer shows the pronounciations of the verbs. • Students invited to take part in the competition as a practice.
