Kids in junior school must be taught about India, its states and union territories as they are a very important part of general knowledge. Learning about Indian states and their capitals can get kids curious enough to want to know more about our country. Our democratic nation that gained independence on 15th August in 1947 has a lot to offer in terms of natural beauty, topography, customs, religions and languages. Each state of India has its own unique identity, language and traditions that set it apart from others and add to its geographical and cultural importance. There is no end to exploring in a nation like India. When it comes to gleaning basic general knowledge about Indian states, students must know that India has 28 states and 9 union territories. They all have unique flora and fauna, landscape, history and ethnicities, thus making our nation diverse. Knowing about individual states can help children acquire knowledge about what lends each state its distinctive qualities. That is not all.
