  11. Guide for Fire Safe Decorations • All decorations must be fire resistant. When decorating, use only noncombustible material such as foial, glass, or metal. DO NOT use untreated cotton batting, flock, or paper as they ignite easily and burn continuously. • Natural materials are not allowed in Unversity Housing. Leaves, twigs, corn stalks, trees, or cut boughs dry out to a considerable degree and are too combustible for safe use. • Artificial trees made of non-burning materials may be used. Low heat producing electircal light sets can be placed on plastic trees. Electrical devices can not be attached to a metal tree since they may cause an electrical shock when touched. • The use of burning candles is very dangerous and is prohibited in all ears • All electrical decorations must be UL approved. Do not string lights so that the door closes on the wiring. • Exits from the individual floors shall not be blocked by decorations. Hanging decorations may not restrict passage in the halls. • Paper decorations placed on doors must be covered with a protective layer of clear contact paper or like material.
