Different interpretations of sustainable development • Social Development • NEEDS of people must be met equally. • NEEDS: • Access to medical care • Suitable housing • Food and sanitation • Sustainable development will achieve these needs by promoting equality, education and work within local communities. Environmental Protection Limited resources on Earth and everyone NEEDS clean air, land to live on and food. Sustainable development will achieve these needs by looking at current issues such as global warming and deforestation. Promotion of sustainable human activities. Economic Development Economic NEEDS of people: improved medical care and education that enables people to support themselves. Sustainable development will achieve these needs by sustainable economies. All countries to compete on a global scale. Essential drugs/products that are affordable.
