  1. Local HOSA Chapters • Health Science teachers serve as HOSA chapter advisors • Schools sponsor HOSA Chapters • Chapter members elect officers and develop bylaws, policies & procedures, and an annual Program of Work • Chapter members participate in classroom, school, community, area, state, and national activities

  2. HOSA Advisors • Obtain HOSA resource materials • Share the benefits of HOSA with students and parents • Help students establish a Program of Work • Assist officers in carrying out duties and provide time for meetings and activities • Encourage/motivate students to participate in a variety of HOSA activities

  3. HOSA Membership Affiliation • Get a National Charter number & password (call 1-800-321-HOSA) • Go to the HOSA web site at www.hosa.org • Click on Advisor Services • Follow directions for affiliating

  4. HOSA 100% Affiliation • When all Health Science students in a program affiliate with HOSA at the state and national level, the chapter receives a certificate and is listed as 100% HOSA in the HOSA magazine

  5. HOSA 100 Club • All chapters that submit their paid affiliation fee by October 30 are recognized as part of the HOSA 100 Club in the HOSA Magazine and receive a special certificate

  6. Program of Work • A written outline of activities a chapter plans to accomplish during the year that includes: • Leadership activities • Professional activities • Community service projects • Social activities • Fundraising activities • Competitive events

  7. Leadership Activities • Chapter officer positions • Committee membership • Fall leadership conferences • Presentation skills • Communication skills • Teaming skills • Organizational and time management skills

  8. Professional Activities • Field trips • Guest speakers • Knowledge and skill development • Career fairs • Employer/mentor functions • Industry networking

  9. Community Service Projects • Health Fairs • Blood Drives • Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF • HOSA Grandfriends • Food baskets for needy families • Community health clinics • Teaching potential HOSA students

  10. Social Activities • Chapter picnics • Chapter T-shirts • Reception for Officer Installation • Collaborative activities with other HOSA chapters and/or other student organizations • Monthly birthday celebrations • Chapter recreational activities

  11. Fundraising Activities • Dinner • Car wash • Garage sale • Sales promotional projects (fruit, first aid kits, etc) • Walk-a-Thon • Concession stand • Community Sponsors

  12. Booster Clubs • Add personnel and resources to accomplish program goals • Promote parent involvement • Promote industry involvement • Enhance community service activities • Coordinate fundraising • Facilitate knowledge and skill development
