  1. Welcome to the Wellness World! Happy New Year: Kick Off A Healthy 2014! The holidays are over and now is the time to get back on track! Let’s start 2014 out with healthy habits and smart eating. Most of us make New Year’s Resolutions that involve positive changes in our lifestyles. Eating more healthy food, starting to work out, stopping smoking, and losing weight are some of the most common resolutions that we make. The question is, how can we keep our resolutions and avoid the obstacles that can derail us? Lovett Wellness Warriors Make Family-Friendly New Years Resolutions and support each other throughout the year! Here are a few examples: Stop eating junk food/fast food Go for a family walk in the evening twice a week Donate hair to Locks of Love Learn new things (music, reading, art, sports, etc.) Try one new healthy family meal per week Save $1 of allowance a week in a jar Drink eight glasses of water every day Set an overall family goal as well as an individual goal with each family member, decide on a plan of action, and start working towards your goals! Goal-Setting Tips: Make it something YOU really want: Find something that is meaningful for you to achieve, don’t forgot to write down the reasons this goal is important to you (this is a great reminder for encouragement and support) Be specific: Instead of broad goals, choose specific goals and milestones Make it achievable: Pick a goal and plan of action that is do-able for YOU Make a plan: write down a reasonable plan of action, be sure use several small steps to reach your goals Step into a healthy New Year with the Lovett PTO walking group: Come join the FUN at 8am every Monday at the flagpole. Come out and get your week started right! All fitness levels welcome. If you are interested in volunteering to lead a group on another day or time, we would LOVE to hear from you.
