  2. Fertilization • Internal • Dogs and bitches, after mating, sperm enter the egg, sperm and egg combine to form the new combination of child, called fertilization.

  3. Offspring Produced • A normal litter of puppies can go from 1-12 babies.

  4. Gestation • A normal pregnancy for a dog is 63 days.

  5. Age of Sexually Mature • Dogs are sexually mature between 6 months and 1 year but are not socially mature until they are about 2 years of age. Socially mature at the age of 2. Sexually mature at 6 months.

  6. Parental Care • Mothers are in contact for 13 weeks of the litters life. • 10-11 weeks of the litters life is when the mothers milk feed. • Male parents are guard dogs for the first 6-8weeks of the litters life.
