Who is DadePaper? • DadePaper is the leading independent distributor of foodservice and janitorial supplies and equipment in the Eastern US. • DadePaper was founded in Miami, FL in 1939 and now serves the entire Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. • DadePaper supplies the lodging segment in addition to education, healthcare, facilities maintenance and foodservice.
Why are we here today? • DadePaper has partnered with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to offer our expertise to the Florida Green Lodging Program participants. • One of the easiest ways lodging facilities can make a positive environmental impact is to use environmentally preferable paper and cleaning supplies and follow proper procedures.

What are Green Products? • Green or Environmentally Preferable Cleaning Products are those products that have specific attributes including: • Increased recycled content • Lowered VOCs and toxins • Reduced packaging • Safety in use • Reduced waste
What are the Myths about Green Products? • Green cleaning products don’t work. • Green cleaning products cost more. • Green is just a fad.
Myth Buster #1 • Green products do work. Many independent companies and organizations have set standards and now certify products. • Green Seal • Environmental Choice/EcoLogo • GreenGuard • EPA Guidelines • LEED Guidelines
Myth Buster # 2 • Green Products are cost neutral and in some cases provide cost savings. • Chemical dilution systems provide a true cost in use savings over ready to use spray bottles • Controlled towel and tissue dispensers reduce waste • Matting reduced the amount of dirt that enters a facility and reduces labor
Myth Buster #3 • Green is here to stay • An independent study published in Cleaning Maintenance Management showed that 87% of all businesses surveyed wanted to be “more green.” That is a 28% jump since 2005. • Many companies now include sustainability positions in their company mission statements. • Many municipalities are starting to require the use of environmentally preferable cleaning products and supplies in their facilities.
