Summary/ Abstract: High autonomy, light, small size, and high data storage capacity electronic log-book based on ASIC related to a Decision Support System (DSS) for children affected by Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM) treatment and control. Introduction: Tradicional systems based on discrete components integration is a way to optimize their technical characteristics, performance and also their size and weight, obtaining high autonomy, light, small size portable systems and easy to use because of their simple user interface. Results: Improvements obtained integrating the traditional system into an ASIC. • + 60 components. Components reduction - 3 Basic components. Display LCD + CHIP + Keyboard • Power: + 350 mW. Power reduction - Power: 12.5 mW. • 8 button batteries. Weight reduction - 1 button battery. • Size: 8 x 14 x 3 (cm) Size reduction - Size: 10 x 8 x 1 (cm) Material and methods: Hardware: Personal Computers, EPLD´S, LCD Display and other electronic components.
