  2. Purpose • We are seeking to discover how various parachute designs affected the speed at which the attached cargo fell.

  3. Design • We believe that a square shaped parachute will be the most efficient design for slowing down the attached weight.

  4. Method We will raise the balloon up to 300 feet Each of the different shaped parachutes are in their separate compartments. We will pull a cord from the ground to release them all simultaneously We will time the duration it takes for each parachute to reach the ground. We will repeat the test at multiple altitudes for better data.

  7. Analysis/conclusion • We found from our tests that the triangular parachute slowed the cargo the most efficiently at 300 meters • However, we also found that the square parachute slowed the cargo the most efficiently at 200 meters

  8. Error Analysis • Human error in hand-timings • People caught parachutes on the first trial • Wind differences between trials • Deploy time (smaller in significance) • Carry Distance • Imperfect parachutes
