Sometimes You Just Need to Run Away. The Solution Is Obvious. Sometimes the obvious solution to a dilemma requires no thinking … just run!

The Solution Is Obvious • Sometimes the obvious solution to a dilemma requires no thinking … just run! • Examples in the NT: Mt. 2:13 (Herod’s decree), Mt. 10:23 (persecution), Mt. 24:16 (fall of Jerusalem), Acts 27:30 (shipwreck), and Heb. 11:34 (the sword) • God wants us to run and don’t look back (Lk. 17:32 [Gen. 19:12ff]; 1 Cor. 10:13)!
The Solution Is Obvious Why run? • We will be less likely to dwell on the sin (Josh. 7; 2 Sam. 11; Jas. 1:14-15) • We will have time for our passion to subside (Prov. 14:29; 17:27) • We will be able to think more clearly about what God wants
Just Run Away • Flee fornication (1 Cor. 6:18) – run from those things that lead to fornication (Gen. 39:12; Mt. 5:28; Gal. 5:19) • Flee idolatry (1 Cor. 10:14) – run from those things that would take God’s place in our heart (Ezek. 14:1ff; 1 Jn. 5:21) • Flee the love of money (1 Tim. 6:11) – run from those material things that cause one to be lost
Just Run Away • Flee youthful lusts (2 Tim. 2:22) • Youthful advice (1 Kings 12:13-14) • Youthful disrespect (2 Kings 2:23) • Youthful peer pressure (Prov. 1:10) • Youthful folly (Prov. 1:4; 7:7) • Youthful priorities (Mt. 19:20,22)
Just Run Away • Flee youthful lusts (2 Tim. 2:22) • Youthful pride (Prov. 18:12) • Youthful unbelief (Eccl. 12:1; Psa. 119:9)
Just Run Away • Every second we delay the more likely we will commit the sin • When we “flee” sin and temptation, the Devil will “flee” from us (Jas. 4:7)
