  1. Go Orange for Orang-utans! Years 3 & 4 raising money for the Orang-utans in the Rainforests of Borneo.

  2. Visit to chester zoo • As part of our topic work on the Rainforest, Years 3 and 4 went on a school visit to Chester Zoo.

  3. Raising awareness • During our visit, we soon realised that lots of the animals in the zoo are actually endangered in the wild. • We felt really upset by this and wanted to help the zoo. • As ‘dynamic citizens’ we thought that it would be a good idea to hold a charity event to raise money for orang-utans. • We also thought that as part of being ‘entrepreneurs’ that we could make items and then sell them to raise money.

  4. Go orange for orang-utans day • On Wednesday 22ndOctober, we made orange orang-utan cakes, biscuits and cupcakes. • We made posters to advertise our products and thought about how much we should sell our items for. • We bought orange balloons to decorate as orang-utans and then sell. • We also got our parents involved and they helped by making extra cakes, biscuits and sweets! • We made orang-utan masks and came to school dressed in ‘orange.’

  8. How much did we raise? • We contacted Chester Zoo to see what would happen to the money we raised. • They told us that for every £10 we raised, that would plant 1 tree in the Rainforests of Borneo. • We thought that we would be able to raise at least £60, which would mean we could have 6 trees planted.

  9. The grand total! • We counted all the money to see exactly how much money we had raised! • We could not believe how much money we raised……… £110

  10. we have helped to save the orang-utans! • We were so happy, we can now have 11 trees planted for the orang-utans. • We are so proud of ourselves for being…… Dynamic Citizens!
