History • Kevin Plank is the founder • 1996: the first micro fiber t-shirt was made. • It was used to wick moisture away. • Also in 1996, Under Armour developed performance product lines such as Coldgear, Heatgear, Tech Gear, and All Season to cover every climate and condition an athlete may face in a year. • 1997: Twelve college football teams and ten National Football League (NFL) teams begin wearing Under Armour garments.

Continued… • 2001: Supply agreements with Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, and the NFL are signed. • 2002: Under Armour gear becomes available in over 2,500 retail stores; company begins testing a women's apparel line. • 2003: The Women's Performance Gear product line is officially launched in retail outlets and on the company web site.

  5. Kevin Plank • Born August 13, 1972 in Kensington, MD • Played football for University of Maryland • He founded Under Armour in 1996 • Plank thought up the idea because he got tired of having to change out of the sweat-soaked T-shirts he wore under his jersey.
