  1. Facts About Satan • He is a real being! 2 Corinthians 11:14-15; Hebrews 4:16. • He is called “Satan,” a word meaning “adversary,” I Peter 5:8. • Adversary of God and Christ, Mark 1:13. • Adversary of the Lord’s people, Luke 22:31; Acts 5:3. 2 Cor. 2:11; I Thess. 2:18. • Adversary of all mankind, Acts 26:18.

  2. Facts about Satan (Con’t) • He is called the devil. From diabolos, meaning an accuser; a slanderer. • He accused God to man, Genesis 3:1-5. • He accused man to God, Job 1:6-11; Revelation 12:10. • Note word “slanderers,” I Timothy 3:11. • He is an Actor, 2 Corinthians 11:13-15. • He is a Liar and a Murderer, John 8:44.

  3. If I Were the Devil, I Would: • Deny the very Existence of God! • Because a loss of faith results in an increase of immorality. • I would not show “the back door.” • Try hard to divorce our nation from God! • Because unbelief leads to immorality and immorality leads to a nation’s down fall! • I would not show the back door!

  4. If I Were the Devil, I Would: • Point out Every Seeming contradiction between the Bible and science! • The reason: Psalm 119:9,11; James 1:21. • I would ignore the scientific accuracy of the Bible! • Try to destroy the homes of America! • Because the stability of the home determines the stability of society. • I would not show the back door!

  5. If I Were the Devil, I Would: • Magnify the Pleasures of the Lust of the Flesh. Galatians 5:19-21; I Corinthians 6:9-10; 1 Peter 2:11. • I would not show the back door! • Ridicule Religion. • Because I would know that as long as people are irreligious they belong to me! • I would not show the back door!

  6. If All this Failed, I Would: • Turn Religious! • This is no problem for the devil, 2 Corinthians 11:13-15. • I would know that no error is worse than religious error! • I would send preachers, priests, rabbi’s, etc. preaching false doctrine! • I would not show the back door!

  7. Also, if all this failed, I would say “you have plenty of time” • The Reason: Because of the brevity of life, James 4:14. • And because the heart tends to harden through rejection of truth one has learned. • I would not show the back door!

  8. If all this Failed, and You Became a Christian: • I would try to render you as useless as possible! • Why? Revelation 2:10; Matthew 25:30; 2 Peter 2:20-22. • I would try to convince you that you are “too busy,” that pleasure, work, entertainment, etc. comes before worship! • I would not show the back door!

  9. Conclusion: • In Essence, if I were the devil, I would do exactly what the devil is doing! • But I am not the devil; I am not in the camp of the devil; hence I urge you to resist the devil, I Peter 5:9; refuse to “give place” to the devil, Ephesians 4:29, and submit instead to God, James 4:7.
