Three simple conditions for progress • Avoid complexity • Enable confidence • Be guided by purpose
Causes of complexity • Fuzzy purpose • Option overload – too many options stifle actions • Perception of obstacles – tackle “can’t do” attitudes head on • Reducing all three of these causes will create simplicity which, in turn, provides for clarity • See: Seek First to Understand in the Thursday Thoughts! series on the Aresko blog
Clarity enables confidence • A predictable resistance to any unclear purpose is anger and frustration • Listen to them • Tells you what’s important to people and shows people care about the issue • Clarity redirects that caring attitude into positive activity, and away from negative and time consuming activity
Confidence fuels progress • All progress MUST be guided by clear purpose • Purpose is the reason we exist in our professional lives • Purpose answers the question (before its is asked!) being “What’s the big deal anyway?” • Purpose is what you want to be known and remembered by • Clear purpose will give you a first class leadership reputation • People will follow you! What more could a leader ask for?
