  1. The 200 Most Powerful People in Real Estate • Houston and HAR have strong representation in the Swanepoel Power 200 (SP200) list, released last week. • This inaugural SP200 issue is described as “the most comprehensive analysis ever published of the most powerful key decision makers, trailblazers, influencers, company chieftains, thought leaders, and innovators.” • Among those who made the list are our own HAR President & CEO Bob Hale at #23 overall and #2 in the Trade category. While the list says that Bob is the 23rd and 2nd "most powerful in real estate," it should be noted that they defined that as "the ability to make things happen." • HAR members who placed include Mark Woodroof, Mark Willis, Richard Smith, Ted C. Jones, Ph.D. and HAR strategic architect Jeremy Conaway. • For more information and to see the complete list, please visit www.sp200.com.

  2. Weekly HAR Market Stat It's the time of year when housing statistics take a back seat to the resolve associated with a fresh calendar year. Diligent tracking of new listings and pending sales counts tends to give way to weight loss plans and personal financial planning. And you know what? That's great! Spending some time focusing on one’s self just may help make 2014 a banner year to match 2013. But if you want to take a quick glance, here are the latest statistics: In the Houston region, for the week ending January 5: • New Listings decreased 9.2% to 1,310 • Pending Sales increased 18.4% to 1,077 • Closed Sales increased 33.3% to 1,176

  3. Want to Officially Be Called an Expert? Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE) Designation The Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE) designation is the premier negotiation designation in real estate. Agents who earn this designation have advanced negotiation skills and can better help clients achieve their goals. CNE agents are real estate professionals who are serious about helping their clients. They have learned how to strategically plan their negotiations, how to deal with overly competitive negotiators and how to persuade and influence the other side. You can be sure a CNE agent will be able to make the most of any given situation.
