  5. Career Interest Surveys in area high schools Pick two careers in which most interested Results tabulated Approach businesses in which students have high interests How does it start?

  7. Commitment of President / CEO Select at least 5 adult leaders Ensure leaders are trained in Exploring methods and working with teenagers Safe and adequate meeting facilities Expose youth to Exploring’s 5 Areas of Emphasis What is asked of a company?

  9. At least 5 adults Advisor Associate Advisor Committee Chair 2 Committee Members • Adult Leadership • Advisor & Associate • Primarily guide youth • Post Committee • Coordinate resources • Ensure Advisor has all needed assistance

  10. Exploring Program is delivered through businesses and community organizations Utilizing organizational resources: Adult guidance, meeting facilities, career expertise

Meet 1-2 times each month Typically 1 ½ hours each time Most Posts have 20-30 youth, called Explorers Hands-on learning about the career Program ideas: Build a bridge model Construct and test a Jacob’s Ladder Design and launch a model missile Visit a local college engineering dept – learn opportunities Use fiber optics to communicate information

  16. Costs • $11.00 annually per youth and adult • $20.00 annually for the organization
