  2. Definition of Ethics What do we mean by "ethics"? definition: (Oxford English Dictionary): "The science of morals; the department of study concerned with the principles of human duty." What are the differences between ethics, morals, and values? (handout) In our engineering projects we are concerned with “practical ethics” “Working definition” (paraphrased from an engineering professor): --do no harm --do the job you are being paid to do What ethical questions have arisen in your academic and/or professional experience?
