  1. 3-D POLYLINES • 2D polyline is coplanar, which means that all of its vertices have the same elevation. • 3D polyline may have different vertex elevations. • A 3D polyline may have all of its vertices at the same elevation.

  2. START WITH SURVEY. EXISTING GROUND SURFACE CREATED.

  3. TERRAIN 3D POLYLINES CREATE BY ELEVATION 3D Polylines

  4. 3D Polylines • SELECT A POINT TO • START A LINE. THE DEFAULT ELEVATION OF THE GROUND SURFACE APPEARS. IT CAN BE OVERWRITTEN.

  5. DRAG LINE TO NEXT POINT WHERE A VERTICE MAY BE APPLIED. (Ex. High point in a dam) 3D Polylines

  6. 3D Polylines AT PROMPT ENTER DESIGNED ELEVATION OF THAT POINT

  7. 3D Polylines CONTINUE TO ADD VERTICES AND ELEVATIONS (NOTICE THE UPPER PART OF THE LINE HAS TEMPORARILY DISAPPEARED)

  8. Elevation ENTER ELEVATION

  9. 3D Polylines WHEN LINE IS COMPLETED, HIT “X” TO EXIT `

  10. TERRAIN 3-D POLYLINES CREATE BY STEP Offset

  11. Offset SELECT THE POLYLINE TO OFFSET

  12. Offset OFFSET DISTANCE

  13. Elevation EACH VERTEX OF THE NEW LINE WILL APPEAR. ELEVATIONS CAN BE ACCEPTED OR OVERWRITTEN.

  14. Elevation ENTER TO ACCEPT ELEVATION, OR OVERRIDE

  15. Elevation AT FINAL POINT ENTER TO ACCEPT ELEVATION AND “X” TO EXIT PROCESS

  16. Repeat Offset Process PROCESS CAN BE REPEATED FOR ADDITIONAL LINES

  17. Editing Polylines LINES ARE ABLE TO BE EDITED. SELECT THE LINE AND HANDLES WILL APPEAR. PULL THE ENDS TO THE DESIRED LOCATION.
