  1. Colourful Diamonds: Charm Of Red Diamond Source - https://medium.com/@joyari/colourful-diamonds-charm-of-red-diamond-596d533fae19 Coloured Diamonds come in various shapes & sizes. What makes them special is their hue & rarity. Red Diamond crowns to be the rarest diamond of all the gemstones. The dainty red diamond appears to be the rarest & pricey gemstone. It is hard to find a perfect Red Diamond devoid of any hues. The coloured diamonds generally get their hue due to chemical impurities such as nitrogen and boron. Red Diamonds are formed due to the presence of pure carbon without any foreign elements or impurities. It’s the slight deformity in the atomic structure of the carbon atoms which sets the bright red tone. The Red Diamonds shine sparkling best under the natural daylight & appear much different under fluorescent light. The diamond mines around the world might be many, but Red Diamonds are found in a selected few countries like Australia, Brazil, Russia & India. Amongst all these mines, the Argyle mines of Australia are known for the discovery of their pink & red diamonds. To find a perfect red diamond is an extreme rarity. This rarity along with sky-high prices makes it less accessible to consumers. But from 1957 till 1987, no Red Diamonds were found. Unbelievable isn’t it?

  2. It is believed that the largest-ever Red Diamond known as the "Moussaieff Red Diamond" or the "Red Shield" was discovered in the '90s by a farmer in Brazil. It weighed an astounding 13.90 carats when it was found. The Diamond was then purchased by The William Goldberg Diamond Corporation in New York. But after undergoing the process of fine cutting & polishing now the Diamond weighs around 5.11 carats. What separates the Red Diamond form other coloured diamonds is the grade. Coloured diamonds are further classified based on intensity, but in Red Diamond there exists only one grade: Fancy Red. Many Red Diamonds do contain secondary colours like Purple, Brown, and orange. Nonetheless, the stronger the red colour, the higher the value of the diamond. The value of any Red Diamond is fairly evaluated using the principle of the 4C's. When determining the cost of a particular diamond, the colour makes a huge impact on the cutting of the stone as well as the pricing of the stone. The diamonds are cut keeping in view the colour and the intensity of the gemstone. The flawless, enigmatic Red Diamond exudes royalty in every aspect.
