MCS and Energy Loss

MCS and Energy Loss. Update Sophie Middleton. Comparison to MUSCAT. Plot shows ratio of the theta value compared with MUSCAT results For muons of 172MeV/c Shows MAUS furthest off for lH2 Version with GEANT4.9.5 closer to data. Mean Energy Loss.

  1. MCS and Energy Loss Update Sophie Middleton

  2. Comparison to MUSCAT • Plot shows ratio of the theta value compared with MUSCAT results • For muons of 172MeV/c • Shows MAUS furthest off for lH2 • Version with GEANT4.9.5 closer to data

  3. Mean Energy Loss • Plots for mean energy loss for muons in 576 mm LH2 for 2 versions of MAUS and ICOOL • Little difference between GEANT4.9.2 and 9.5

  4. Theta Distribution • 109 mm LH2 • Centre not good fit • Tails not visible • Need to make central gaussian fit • Open up tails as these are vetoed in framework • Still working on these

  5. To Do: • Still trying to get comparison between theta distribution in MAUS and MuScat • Have correct binning and two plots but large deviation between data and MAUS version used here. • Need to look at G4.9.5 and ICOOL too • Also, looking at fitting straggling functions for energy loss
