  2. STIP • Regional RTIP – 75 Percent • Projects that improve transportation within regions. • Statewide ITIP - 25 Percent • Projects that improve interregional movement of people, vehicles, and goods.

  3. Interregional Program Objectives • Complete a trunk system of higher standard State highways. • Connect all urbanized and urbanizing areas, gateways, and high growth areas to the trunk system. • Ensure a dependable level of service for movement of interstate goods and services. • Implement an intercity passenger rail program.

  4. Funding Decisions • Consistency with Plans, Statutes & Guidelines • Commitment to ongoing Program • Return on Investment • Deliverability • Local Participation

  5. ITIP Proposal • $296 Million Highways • Eight new projects/components • $45 Million Intercity Rail • Six new projects/components • $36 Million Transportation Enhancements • 22 new projects/components • $377 Million Total Proposal

  6. Project Profiles • Tulare 99 • Upgrade to 6-Lane Freeway • Marin/Sonoma 101 • Realign and eliminate at-grade access. • San Bernardino 58 • Realign and close expressway gap

  7. Tulare 99 Widen existing 4-lane to 6-lane freeway. Kingsburg to Selma A $43 million ITIP widening project allocated December 2005 and is currently under construction. Goshen to Kingsburg A Route 99 bond and IIP funded widening project slated for construction August 2010. Tulare to Goshen Construction slated to start in the FY 2012-13.

  8. Marin/Sonoma 101 Realign roadway, replace bridge and construct new frontage roads to eliminate direct driveway access. Project prepares alignment for future HOV expansion. Existing 4-lane expressway Existing 6-lane freeway

  9. San Bernardino 58 Realign, close gap, and upgrade existing 2-lane conventional highway to 2-lane expressway (Phase 1). New interchange Bypass the existing congested signalized intersection at Route 395 (Kramer Junction) and eliminate an at-grade BNSF RR crossing. Proposed 2-lane bypass Close gap between existing 4-lane expressway & freeway.
