Introduction • According to the Report of the Knowledge-Based Economy by the OECD, the term 'knowledge economy' has increasingly been used to describe the emerging state of economy in the highly industrialized countries. • More than 50 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the major OECD economies is now based on the production and distribution of knowledge.
