  2. A little bit about me…. • Teaching at PR for 15 years • BS and MS from Eastern Illinois University • 60 + Hours of Education classes • Coached Volleyball at CLC for 11 years • Volunteer and Foster mom for many years • Mom to a 3 year old lil girl- Ella

  3. A little bit about the class… • Single Period Everyday • Notes Mondays thru Wednesdays typically with handouts • At least one lab a week • Most homework meant to be finished in class (due by Friday) • Quiz every Friday including equations • No tests except final exam

  4. Why should I take this class? • This week we will look at what PHYSICS is and why it is very helpful to know about for your life and for many career paths you may choose. • Phun Physics Phood Fridays?!

  5. How will my grade be determined? Quarter Grade Based On: • Homework • Labs • Weekly Quizzes • Projects Rube Goldberg Project - YouTube • 70 % quizzes/projects • 30% assignments/labs

  6. Things that are Expected of you as students… • Come each day prepared with homework completed • Participate in class labs and activities • Ask questions or seek help when you are confused • Be here every day on time ready to work! • Open your minds to appreciate the physics around you!

  7. Things you can do to make yourself successful at physics…. • Ask questions! See me for help! • Take notes everyday and do all labs and homework and turn in before the weekly quiz. • Study for the quizzes each Friday • Recognize the importance of physics in life and many careers.

  8. Rules to Follow to fit in… No cell phones in class (=2 hr Sat) No I-Pods/ music devices allowed during instruction or labs (=Step) Be nice and have fun!
