Data and research • Unreliable and under-estimated data • 2010 – 3,422 incidents (NCRB) • A 31% decrease in the last years • 31% increase between 1999 and 2009 (HAQ) • 1074 cases of child trafficking (Childline) • Comprehensive situation analysis (UNODC) – upcoming • TIP and other reports • MIS, Home link, Child alert system

Legislative developments • ITPA amendments – pending • SC latest judgment on missing children • MHA Advisory • Criminal amendment Ordinance (2013) • Palermo protocol • Widens scope and definition • Issue of consent • Aggravated sanctions if victim is a child and for public servants • Employer of trafficked child punishable

  4. Policies, Programmes and Schemes • MWCD • Advisory Committee • Ujjawala: evalutation, capacity building, monitoring, sanctioning Committee • ITPA • MHA • AHTUs - 225 • Upcoming crime units scheme – strengthening of AHTUs as part of it.
