To Breastfeed or Not to Breastfeed
  • Breastfeeding in public is a very debated topic
    • Should you be able to do it anywhere?
    • Should you have to cover up?
    • Should public places be

required to have a

breastfeeding room?

    • Should you have to go

somewhere private even if you

are covered?

To Breastfeed or Not to Breastfeed

There are laws protecting a woman’s right to breastfeed in public

In 45 states including Minnesota it is legal for a woman to breastfeed in any public or private location

In 28 states including Minnesota breastfeeding is exempt from public indecency laws

In 2010 President Obama signed the Patient protection and affordable care act, it requires an employer to provide reasonable break time for an employee to express breast milk for one year after the child’s birth. The employer must also provide a place other than a bathroom for the employee to express breast milk
