  2. FUNCTION Malee Sampran Public Company Limitedis a producer and distributor of canned vegetables, fruit, canned fruits and fruit juices. The company operates several main product lines, namely canned pineapple, canned fruit, canned sweet corn, pineapple juice concentrate, fruit juices, UHT milk and other beverages. These products are marketed under the various trademarks of the company, including Malee, First Choice, Hunter and Farmer. Products are also produced for both local and foreign customers under their trademarks.

  8. CUSTOMERS DOMESTIC CUSTOMERS There were good fruit crops in the year 2000, causing fresh fruit prices to be relatively low, resulting in higher consumption of fresh fruits. However, Malee managed to retain leadership in canned fruits, with market share increasing to 41% from 38% in 1999. Besides, in April 2000, Malee was chosen as an exclusive brand of canned fruits in 7-Eleven convenience store chain, which has more than 1,300 outlets throughout Thailand. In 2001, the Company has projected increases in sales, as there will be continuing marketing activities.

CONSTRAINS in the second half of the year, the Company has put much effort to seriously resolve the problems by restructuring the management in order to be more efficient and management decisions made on a more timely basis to ensure greater efficiency and a return to profitability. Furthermore, prices for export products are stabilizing, while domestic sales as well as contract manufacturing are continuing to grow. These positive factors resulted in an improving trend towards the end of the year 2000 The management restructuring has already resulted in significant saving in labor and overhead costs. Besides, domestic sales and contract manufacturing business have shown improving trends. It is anticipated that the operating results will be improved significantly in the near future.

  13. FUTURE DIRACTION In 2002, the Company should be able to enjoy the benefit of various cost-saving measures implemented during the past year. In the meantime, the management will have to work hard on the contract farming to stabilize the raw material availability and price. Once the program is successful, it will be a major milestone for the Company to come closer to our vision 2003, TO BE THE PROCESSED FOOD BUSINESS LEADER IN THE REGION WITH INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED BRANDS.
