Does she have valid opinions about these characters? • What do the kids do next to try and make Boo Radley come out of his house? • How does Atticus react to this latest plan?

  7. Dialectical Journals – Entry #1, Chapters 1-5 • To help you gather text-based evidence for the essay toward the end of the semester, we will be logging and keeping track of quotes from To Kill A Mockingbird in Dialectical Journals. • Every 5 chapters, you will pick an important quote and write it down (CD). Then you will write two commentary statements (CM) where you analyze the quote and its importance to the story and characters. Refer to the example on the first page of your journal to guide you. • I recommend that you pick a quote that either: • Was said by an important character (Like Scout, Jem, Atticus, Miss Maudie, Calpurnia, etc.) • Was said about an important character by another character • You will turn this in after we finish the last chapter of the book (Chapter 31). It will be worth 30 points and will be counted as a “Project” grade in PowerSchool.
