Applied writing: Medical instructions and doctor’s prescription Sample analysis The format and the language used in medical instructions: The language used in medical instructions is expected to be as straightforward as possible. Short and simple sentences are preferred. Everyday words are used in order not to confuse people.

  6. Applied writing: Medical instructions and doctor’s prescription Sample analysis The sentences used in writing medical instructions: 1. Keep out of reach of children. 2. Store in a cool, dry place. 3. The usual dose is 2-3 tablets twice daily.
