  2. Why is a Mountain important? A mountain is important because it sustains a lot of plant life and animals. It is also where the water can come from, because when it snows the snow on top of the mountain will eventually melt. Then the water will come trickling down.

  3. Animals In the mountains there are many animals such as bears, mountain goats, birds, coyotes, king snakes, chinchillas andsquirrels.

  4. Grizzly Bears • Bears can adapt to the mountains with their claws for climbing the trees. Their fur to keep them warm when they hibernate or it is cold. They use their teeth to eat and catch prey. They have a good sense of smell to smell the prey. • Grizzly bears are Omnivores. They eat salmon, deer, plants, caribou, elk, berries and honey. There are many types of bears around the world.

  5. Food chain • This is BC mountain food chain.

  6. What would happen if there was a missing link in the Food Chain If all the deer died many animals could die. Deer are an important part of the food chain. Some animals eat deer like mountain lions, wolves, and coyotes.

  7. Plants Many trees are found on mountains. Trees such as pine, Douglas fir, cottonwood, and aspen.

  8. Human interference Many people interfere with the mountain habitat. Sometimes people will build houses on the mountain. Then a lot of wildlife and animals, will be gone. Hunters hunt down the animals. The population will go down. Hikers will hike in the mountains and sometimes leave garbage and make the mountain habitat a mess! The loggers cut down the trees. The trees they cut down may have animals living in it. The animals could be birds or squirrels.

  9. Endangered Species • In BC there are more endangered species than anywhere in Canada. • Some endangered species In mountains all over the world are the Chocolate- Eyed Spotted Owl, Mountain Caribou, and the Mountain Gorillas.

  10. Extreme conditions and dangers of living in the habitat Some extreme conditions are when it’s winter it can get really cold. Another one is that there could be a drought and therefore no water for the animals. Some dangers of living in the habitat are You could get eaten by other animals, or you could get shot by a hunter.
