  2. What is SEMFOP-1? A management framework and the 1st operational plan to protect the NT2 watershed and its: - forests - habitats - wildlife - biodiversity And to safeguard inhabitants in respect of: - livelihoods - culture - wellbeing

  3. What is SEMFOP? A Shared Vision – the culmination of years of work with comments and suggestions from: - government - local communities - developers and sponsors - independent consultants - international financial institutions - NGO’s …………..and it is still in progress

Objectives of SEMFOP? • Protection and rehabilitation of forest cover • Biodiversity conservation, national park development, tourism, research • Strengthening of WMPA staff capacity and of local authorities • Livelihood improvement, poverty reduction and sustainable development • Prudent management and effective use of funds

  6. SEMFOP Main Operational Area • Nam Theun 2 Watershed Area: • Nakai-Nam Theun NBCA (3,439 km2) • Nam Theun Corridor (513 km2 ) • Southern Corridor (36 km2) • Total Area of about 4000 km2 (around 9 time of the reservoir area at full supply level)

  7. What is WMPA? It is a unique Institution established by the Prime Ministerial Decree No. 25
