  1. Software for Data Replication – Benefits and Features

  2. Replication is the process of sharing information to ensure that consistency is maintained between resources like software or hardware components. It is done to improve accessibility, reliability, and fault-tolerance.

  3. What is data replication? Organizations have various reasons to move or replicate data from one database to another. Whatever might be the motive to do so, it is critical to use the right tools and data replication software to make the process fast, easy and convenient even if massive volumes of data have to be loaded and replicated. What is data replication? It is the process where several copies of the same set of data are made and stored at various locations. This improves accessibility to data across the network. As in data mirroring, data replication is good for both servers and individual computers and the data can be stored on or off-site, cloud-based hosts, or the same system. Almost all database technologies like Oracle database or Microsoft SQL Server have in-built features for replication. Otherwise, it will be necessary to use optimized data replication softwarefor the job.  There are two ways that replication may take place. The first is synchronous which means that any changes made to the source data will be replicated to the target data. The second is asynchronous that initiates replication only when the Commit statement is issued to the database.

  4. What is data replication software? Data replication software quickly creates a replica of the source data at a location that is not dependent on the source, thereby enhancing data security, supporting business continuity, and ensuring disaster resilience. The software also spreads out across heterogeneous data sources and targets by providing centralized management of replication policy. Replication is not to be confused with backups as the latter retains a copy of the data only while data replication software continually updates data over an extended period.  Benefits and features of data replication software The software by ensuring data consistency helps end-users access multiple data sources. Further, in the case of an outage at a primary location, the replicated database of a secondary location is automatically triggered and users can carry on running queries without a break or downtime. When the outage is resolved, the primary location database is updated. It is therefore zero-downtime in case of a disaster.  Data replication softwareis a critical component of long-term data retention and archiving. In recent technological innovations, the more advanced cutting-edge data replication softwarecan capably provide real-time transactional data delivery and integration into data lakes to prop up big data initiatives.  The top features of replication software include data policy compliance, recovery and failover, and continual data replication without loss of data. The focus is on low bandwidth usage and minimum disruption to the network without compromising on data security.  The software generally has to be paid for with the cost depending on the volume of data to be replicated.
