  6. 11i Upgrade Attempt • On June start date, Oracle assured us that scripts to go directly from 11.0.3 to 11.5.7 would be available in August. By August, the date was January. The latest date was summer 2003. • E-Studios, a division of Oracle consulting was confident that the migration could be completed over a 3-day weekend. In fact, they advised us to consider an earlier date. • After our initial problematic test upgrades, we enlisted the e-Studios group to perform our 3rd test upgrade. They were unable to to successfully complete this migration, within a 22 day window. • During this final test upgrade we enlisted the aid of Oracle development and were given priority 1 status by Oracle support for all open issues. Migration Issues • No direct migration path from 11.0.3 to 11.5.7: This caused the downtime window to significantly exceed our 8 day timeframe. • Quality of the services migration scripts: Once the migration was complete the data was not correct and even with direct involvement of Oracle's development teams it could not be corrected OAUG DBA SIG Presentatiuon Red Hat Confidential
