  3. ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder Symptoms of ADHD: • Inattentive • Hyperactive • Impulsive • Indecisive

  4. Symptoms of INATTENTION include: • DISTRACTION • DAYDREAMING • DIFFICULTY CONCENTRATING • UNABLE TO COMPLETE ASSIGNMENTS • DIFFICULTY PROCESSING INFORMATION • STRUGGLE WITH INSTRUCTIONS.

  5. Children who are inattentive say: "Any sound in class bothers me" "My mind sometimes goes on a road trip" "It's like I have ten TV channels in my head and I don't know which one to watch."

  6. Symptoms of HYPERACTIVITY include: • FIDGET AND SQUIRM • TALKATIVE • CONSTANTLY IN MOTION • DIFFICULTY WITH QUIET ACTIVITIES

  12. A Final Note • As we can see ADHD is challenging, but as teachers we can help children modify problem behaviors, succeed in school, and get along with others. • We can work with parents to make sure their child is getting the appropriate help in school.
